Jayson's Impact As An Artist

Painting Equipments

"The foundation of my work stems from the disparities facing people of the African diaspora with its diverse cultures, traditions, and contexts. In a society that promises, economic prosperity this disparity is growing wider. The undeniable rights every person is born with are still being denied. The false promises of equality, a false dream, and an opaque hope cloud the foundation of what was supposed to give opportunity. This moves me to use images to change real to the surreal. This is my attempt to provide another view of what could be. I do this with the use of contrast, just as people of African descent are the ultimate contrast. I try to portray this in my work." --              Jayson

Jayson played the trumpet in 5th grade and continued band lessons in high school and college. But a amazing talent for art emerged in 2008, when he took an art class at USP Coleman, FL. Eleven courses later, he was trained in almost every fine art medium including watercolor, oil, acrylic, graphite pencil, and charcoal. His art has been exhibited several times to rave reviews in the Atlanta area.
